Raspberry pi and static ip address

How to setup static ip to the Raspberry pi?
First you neet run command: sudo nano /etc/network/interfaces
Remove the line where reads:

iface eth0 inet dhcp

Add the following
iface eth0 inet static
address 192.168.1.12
netmask 255.255.255.0
network 192.168.1.0
broadcast 192.168.1.255

gateway 192.168.1.1
Then save all pressing CTRL-X and select Y
